Day 1 in Uganda
Arriving in Uganda with early morning flight on British airways. There is not much to do and see in Entebbe and Kampala when you are mainly interested in wildlife so the best option is to come to Mihingo Lodge for your first night. From Entebbe to Mihingo Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park is a 5 hour drive, so you can make it for a late Lunch at the lodge. The afternoon can be spent relaxing around the pool or having a little nap in your room to gather strength after your long travel or go for a walk looking for klipspringers amongst the rocks. In the late afternoon you can go on a game walk around Mihingo Lodge. Back for sundowners on the decking nestled amongst the trees with a stunning view onto the water hole or at the camp fire watching the sun setting over the hills in Lake Mburo National Park. On a clear day you will be able to the Rwenzori Mountains in the far distance.
Day 2 Mihingo Lodge
Get up at 5:30 am to leave Mihingo Lodge at 6:00 to drive the Rwonyo Park Headquarter and go on a game walk starting at 6:30 am. You will have a good chance of seeing Hyenas coming back to their den and hippos walking back to the water, you will see buffalo, zebra, impala and topi and with a bit of luck maybe even a sitatunga, an antelope rarely seen living in the papyrus swamps. If you do not feel like getting up so early you can also leave Mihingo Lodge between 7:00 and 8:00 am and still have a great walk but without seeing the hyenas and hippos. After your early morning walk come back to Mihingo Lodge for a late breakfast on the wooden decking overlooking the water hole. Before lunch you can relax at the pool, the bar area or enjoy the privacy of your room. In the afternoon you can go on a game drive to Kazuma Look-out Point with a stunning view onto 9 of the lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. On your way you will see most of the animal species occurring in the Park. The walk onto Kazuma Look-out Point is steep but short and extremely rewording and should not be missed when visiting Lake Mburo National Park.
Day 3 Mihingo Lodge
After breakfast between 7:00 and 8:00 am drive to the Park Headquarter and go for a boat trip at 10:00 am. You will see tons of hippo, a few crocodiles and a big variety of bird species. If you are lucky you will see buffalo from the boat and other wildlife and with a lot of luck maybe even a leopard or a big python. Drive back to Mihingo Lodge for lunch and enjoy the pool. In the afternoon you can go on a game drive on the Eland Track, this track is a good place to see eland and buffalo and all the other plains game. Return to Mihingo Lodge for a sun downer and dinner.
